This is the replacement rubber cap that snaps over the lock end of a Equal-i-zer locking hitch pin. It is a small part with one job: keeping water, road grit and winter salt out of the keyway so the barrel lock keeps turning smoothly year after year.

The cover is molded from weather-resistant rubber and sized to fit snugly over the lock cylinder on the 5/8″ locking hitch pin, with a keyhole flap that lifts out of the way when you need the key. The originals occasionally tear, dry out, or get pulled off in a car wash; a missing cover is the most common reason a locking pin seizes or will not accept its key.

Replacing it takes seconds and costs far less than a new lock. If your cover is cracked or gone, fit a new one before the next trip and keep a spare in the glovebox.
