The United States government took an unprecedented step in the defense and maintenance of the American outdoors. After overwhelming approval from the Senate last month, the House of Representatives passed the Great American Outdoors Act which will provide $9.5 billion dollars of non-taxpayer funds to the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and other federal agencies.

This money will be used to update and maintain the infrastructure of campgrounds, roads, bridges, parking lots, restrooms, visitor centers, trails, docks, and more, many of which have desperately needed updating or repairs for decades. The Land and Water Conservation Fund will also receive $900 million per year to invest in public lands, parks and trails.

“We are absolutely thrilled about the announcement of the Great American Outdoors Act passing through Congress,” says Rich Elliott, Sales and Marketing Director at Equal-i-zer Hitch. “America’s National Parks and forests provide amazing recreational opportunities but are just as important for our culture and identity as a nation. This act will help preserve our country’s natural beauty so the next generation can enjoy the many natural wonders that America has to offer.”

While also updating and repairing, the Great American Outdoors Act will help in preserving water quantity and quality, while helping to boost working landscapes and rural economies. We look forward to exploring the Great American Outdoors with you for generations to come as the best protection for your journey!
